Coach MR Buffum commented, “We made a very good effort on Friday but they really beat us up on defense. The officiating swung towards allowing aggressive use of hands and body checks, and we just had to deal with it.”

“We played North Sound Christian again on Saturday and lost to them 55-70…we led in the first quarter 17-12 but we fell behind 21-8 in the second quarter. Shaun Samuels had 15 points against North Sound and he really came on in that game. We also had three guys in double figures scoring so that was good. We did have two guys out with injuries and absences so we were hamstrung on defense. We are missing way too many easy chip shots. The long shot is one thing, but getting under the basket and making it in is a staple of the game.”

Keldon Jardine had several three pointers on Saturday and Tak Peralta scored five points. Nate Drahn as well had a couple of three-pointers on Friday. Kevin Dengler scored nine for the Lobos on Saturday and and ten on Friday. Leland Knopson has been playing more and his physical presence under the basket was perfect for the rebound.

The Lobos play Lummi on Monday, Feb. 9 at 4:45 p.m. for the last basketball game of the season.
