The athletics program at Orcas Christian School partnered with Skagit Valley College and its volleyball program to host a two-day camp.
“The goal of the camp with Skagit Valley College was to develop our volleyball players further core skills, and to advance the once who were ready for more,” said OCS Athletic Director Breezy Davis. “The camp gave the girls an opportunity to see what college volleyball players give to their team. Not just heart, skill and hard work, but a commitment to their team and academics.”
Each college player was paired up with an OCS player, which allowed the athletes to thrive in a one-on-one session that is rare in camps.
Skagit Valley College Head Coach Zach Calles was excited for the opportunity to bring over his entire team to work alongside the players at OCS to provide an authentic college experience while promoting mentoring between the two schools. Calles also was able to discover and evaluate the talent at OCS for the volleyball program at Skagit Valley College. OCS and Skagit Valley College are excited to work together in the future to provide college athletics opportunities for student-athletes.
