Orcas sailors place second and third in WIND Regatta.

Jake White finished second and Taylor Smith finished third in the 22 boat two-day WIND Regatta, which concluded a three-day intensive clinic in Cascade Locks, Oregon from July 7 to 12.

The Orcas High School Sailing Team of White, Smith, Lee Gibbons, Robin Gropp, Josh Inch, Connor O’Neil, Annalies Schuh, Cameron Schuh and Alex Waldron and White learned techniques on sailing in strong winds at the clinic taught by some of the best sailors in the nation. They put the knowledge to practice battling wind in excess of 30 miles per hour.

The sailing team next travels to the McCurdy Trophy hosted by Seattle Yacht Club on Aug. 15 and 16 at Sail Sandpoint.
