The Orcas Vikings were defeated 35-6 by the Concrete football team on Saturday afternoon. Coach Dennis Dahl commented, “We stayed with the game and the guys never lost focus, but we definitely had trouble stopping the offensive counter-plays and we were also hurt on a couple of long passes that set the Lions up for touchdowns. We also had trouble with Concrete’s speed. They’re fifth in the state overall and fast on the turf.”
Offensively the Vikings moved the ball well. Tyler Nigretto had nine carries for a gain of 47 yards on the ground and Seadrick Wooding scored the touchdown on a 33-yard pass from quarterback Robbie Padbury during the second quarter, but the two-point conversion failed. Total yardage on the ground was 129 and in the air, 112 yards were gained for a total of 241 yards overall.
Kyle Hofmann, Jacob Hansen, and Seadrick Wooding played very well on defense while Alan Coe led the team in tackles. Henry Bredouw recovered two fumbles. Coach Dahl said, “Our guys are blocking much better, but we can try and do more.”
The Orcas Vikings play Darrington at home on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 1, at 1:00 pm.
