The 2015 Orcas Vikings football team received all league awards from the state.
The Orcas Cross Country team was proud to send Stephen Hohman, Jr. to the State Championship meet on Nov. 7 where he finished 89th out of 150 participants.
The weekend of Nov. 7 and 8, Orcas Island Yacht Club and Friday Harbor Sailing Club will be hosting the 28th Annual “Round the County” sail boat race.
The Orcas Vikings girls soccer team faced the Friday Harbor Wolverines for the final home game of the season on their home field on Thursday, Oct. 29. The gamed ended 3 – 1. Olivia Gaydos made a goal that her teammate described at the the most beautiful goal ever.
The Orcas Christian School Saints’ Volleyball team traveled to College Place, Washington to compete in the Fall Classic Tournament held on the campus of Walla Walla University.
“The activities today both challenged and broadened our athletes’ definition and concept of the terms team, pride and unity,” said Orcas Booster Club volunteer Justin Paulsen.
Orcas Island High School would like to invite all of our alumni and community members to join in the 2015 Homecoming activities beginning on Friday, Oct. 23. At 1:15 p.m. we will be having our Homecoming assembly in the high school gym. This is the biggest assembly of the school year and is quite entertaining! This is a free event for our community and we would love to see you there, whether or not you have a child who attends our school!
The Lady Vikings volleyball team lost 3-0 to Mt. Vernon Christian on Oct. 5.
Senior Vinny Kramer, who lives on Lopez Island and plays for the Orcas High School football team, was nominated by a community member and selected by Washington Interscholastic Activities Association staff as one of the “Athletes of the Week.”
The Orcas Christian School Saints Volleyball teams picked up their first win of the 2015 season with a 3-2 win in 5 sets over the Skykomish High School Sky Rockets in front of a home crowd at the Orcas Christian School gym last week.
“We handled the game quite well, only conceding a penalty late in the game,” said Coach Matt Stolmeier, recalling it was the Braves who knocked the Vikings out of playoff contention last year in a bruising match. “Stand out player was Gerardo Jimenez who showed his attacking prowess by scoring four goals in 15 minutes. Other goal scorers include Wylie Kau, Michael Harlow and Steven Bodenhamer. Five of our goals had beautiful assists.”
The Orcas Vikings soccer team defeated Concrete 4-2 on Weds. Sept. 28.
The Lady Vikings volleyball team had a busy week with three games and a JV tournament jammed into five days.
