Boys’ basketball
The Vikings took on their first league opponent on Dec. 17, Mount Vernon Christian. The team came out strong on the road and battled hard until the end resulting in a 75-51 victory. They didn’t fare as well during their second league game at Darrington on Dec. 19, with a final score of 38-71, but are hoping to come back with another victory in the new year. They will face off against South Whidbey on Jan. 4.
Girls basketball
The Lady Vikings went to Granite Falls for their third game of the season on Dec. 14 and ended with a 30-point victory of 71-41. The team fought from the first buzzer all the way until the last one. They took this energy to Mount Vernon Christian, but fell short to the Hurricanes, losing 38-62 on Dec 17.
MVC was the first league game of the season for the Lady Vikings and their second one was at Darrington on Dec. 19. The team again battled their way from start to finish giving them the upper hand and the 56-34 victory. The team’s next games will take place at Cedar Park Christian on Jan. 2 and at South Whidbey on Jan. 4.
