Vikings basketball season progresses

Lady Vikings basketball season has begun!

The girls started off their season with a non-league match against Bush on Dec. 6 at home. The Vikings came out strong and took the 64-45 victory.

The following day, the team traveled to Coupeville to compete in another non-league game. Both teams fought hard in the close match, but the Vikings fell just short of a second victory with a final score of 31-34. They then went to Granite Falls on Dec. 14 for another non-league game.

Orcas will be on the road for another four games in a row starting with Mount Vernon Christian on Dec. 17 and Darrington on Dec. 19 to head off to their first league games of the season.

The Vikings boys’ team started off its season, at home, on Dec. 6 against Bush. The team battled throughout the night but were defeated 39-46 in a close game.

On Dec. 7, the team then headed off to Coupeville to fight in its second game of the season. The game ended in Coupeville’s favor, 58-77.

The Vikings will have their first league game of the season on Dec. 17 at Mount Vernon Christian and then will head to Darrington on Dec. 19. The Vikings are looking forward to the exciting season ahead of them.
