Despite a previous convincing win against the La Conner Braves, the Vikings boys basketball team lost 66-62 Jan. 20.
Viking coach Corey Wiscomb said this was a difficult game to accept, but that it’s part of the journey.
“It was a hard loss for us, for sure, he said. “But we are still doing extremely well and this loss will not get us down. Heads hung low in the locker room but no blame was being thrown around. The players were instantly wanting to study game tape to figure out their mistakes. As their coach, I love this kind of determination.”
Cyrus Amour led the Vikings with 20 points followed by Vanya Bullock with 19, Aiden Kruse 7, Miles Harlow 6, Yusuf Duni, 5, Brother Murphy 3 and Jordan Randolph 2. Orcas and Friday Harbor are now tied in the conference at (7-1).
The Lady Vikings lost to the La Conner Braves 62-38 on Jan. 20. The Vikings are still tied for third in the conference at (5-3) with Friday Harbor. Both Viking teams host Friday Harbor on Jan. 26 for what will surely be contentious rematches. The girls play at 4:30 p.m. and the boys play at 6 p.m.
